my cup, bowl, and one of my 2 plates came out today, so now my wheel altered and last plate are in the bisque today. i was supposed to glaze the three that came out today but i spent the entire day helping the noobs and only began to glaze my projects. theni was suppose to finish after school but i forgot : ( any i need to remember to take pics everyday! :/
No pics :( i need to remember to take pics! today i helps the noobs to make a projects because they dont understand ceramics and the strength it takes and it is hard to convey that to them. hopefully my last 2 of my set of three, my 2 plates, and my wheel altered will come out tomorrow! i need to glaze them!
sadly, this last week my first wheel altered project broke : (. But on the bright side, i finished my set of three, made 2 plates, and a new wheel altered! My only worry now is that they will not be out of the bisque in time so get into the grade book. This is because of nature and how the clay needs time to dry, you cannot rush it. I am stressing because i need those projects to work and be done in time. I sure hope they are. i didnt get pics of the projects though this week, i was in too much of a panic to remember haha. well i am hoping for the best!
I am slowly being able to again make projects! Yay! Yesterday tho, i had a hard time glazing because it was too think so today, i finally clazed my wide form! Yay! then after that, i made a bowl which i was very happy about. But, then i used the string tool before i took the bat off the wheel. I had currently "glued" the bat on with some clay so it wouldnt wobble but that made the bat stick so when i pulled off the bat, with the cut project, it was stuck and when i got it off, the project was made into an oval shape instead of a circle. Then, with the help of Ms H, i made it into a square and now i had my wheel altered project done! now i need to work on my set of three! oh my the stress! amaybe i will stay after school tomorrow! if i can. i hope for more success! : )
The last few weeks i have been having such trouble with making projects and was getting angry with not having any outcomes. I got very behind it seems and i am not very happy with that. This last week though, i started to have a bit more luck. i made two bowl shapes, one more of a vase shape, and one plate(pic of plate not here yet). i am still figuring out how to work with clay again and use better techniques to improve my projects. i love ceramics : )
This week was surely a hard week for everyone. (R.I.P. CB<3) i feel like i did not get as much accomplished as i wanted to. Here is what i did: I was able to foot my third project. The foot didn't turn out perfect but it does work. I did not make another project this week because i have been having troubles pulling up because it gets so off centered and then gets very wobbly and eventually falls. The other problem i have had is that when i pull up, i have some parts that become very thin so it cracks. As you can see I am still attempting to adjust to ceramics again. I do not have pictures of my messed up projects because I seem to keep forgetting to take a picture because my hands are covered in clay so it doesn't even cross my mind. i need to try and remember this. This week my first project did come out of the kiln and i was able to begin to glaze it. I put a strip of tape along the bottom-outside and the top-inside and am gonna play around and see how that turns out to be. I also spent one day loading the kiln and cleaning and such and that was basically my week. I am hoping that my 2nd and 3rd projects come out of the glaze kiln very soon and that they are sill taller than wide because my first project ended up being wider than tall. Thats my worry right now so i will keep my fingers crossed about that.: )
This last week I have just been getting use to the wheel again. I forgot how hard it was to make sure my clay was centered but realized that is is not always going to be perfect but i can still manage to make a good piece of art in the outcome. I made a small vase (not posted yet, just came out of kiln and have not taken a picture yet) the first day of school and i am happy about what it came out of the kiln looking like. my second project, made on the 8th of September, came out as a cylinder with a lip. I hope to round the bottom a lot when i foot it so that it will not look so plain. I could not foot it on the 9th because it was still very wet so i am waiting until friday the 10th to do so. The project i made today, project number 3, the 9th, was another attempt at a tall form but might end up being a wide form because i realized that the base was very thick. When i foot this project I am going to have to cut off a lot of access clay. The start of my first semester of advanced ceramics is looking good. i hope to begin making more complex projects soon tho and broaden my skills. |
