Theme outline
Thesis:
my theme involves the discovery of new ideas and new techniques.
durring my process of discovering new techniques, i use eithher calm colors with more complex forms or complex glazes with simple forms to show the juxtoposition of the two
What are they? for instance, my coffee pot i made taller and added a simple detail near the bottom to emphasize the shape and am going to glaze it a simple color so that the shape is the center of attention
How were they made? My projects were made on the wheel and sometimes had added pulled clay for detail or handles. When throwing, i would rarley have a set shape in mind but instead go in with an idea such as "im going to make a vase" and therefore i was able to try and pull tall, persay, but then end up with a wide shape instead. I am continuing to find more techniques to use on the wheel as well as off. for example, i had made only very few handles before this semester because i hated them and was awful. now, after watching others and even going on serches on youtube for techniques, i have foud a way of making a handle so that it works and looks good. I have discovered that i tend to like when handles look like they are attached intead of blended into the project. Also, i am still experiencing with glaze. i still seem to not have the perfect glazing method down to a T yet but i am getting there slowly, but surely. I am trying to find what i like best but i and still paving my path.
How it refers back to theme? My discovery never ends in ceramics. There is constantlysomething new to learn, new techniques, new glazing, new everything. I continue to learn from others as well as learn for myself what works best!
